This song is about the the past, the present, and the future all at the same time. The first sound we hear is an old harpsichord that has been sampled and distorted to sound like a futuristic synth pad. This ethereal texture carries us through the entire song, reflecting the themes being explored in the lyrics; the frustration that comes with a time or place that is so familiar it feels like a cage, and the separation from the self that comes with that. "Go if YOU want to," she sings at herself.
lyrics
You stopped hanging out at the park
when Mary told that it was cursed,
but I never got it.
You like ghosts,
You hold them in your hands
and bum their smokes.
I haven't been your lover in quite some time
but we talk on the phone every once in a while.
Last I heard, the ground had moved
you wished so bad it would take you.
Go if you want to.
You can go, no one will stop you.
Go if you want to.
You can go, no one's gonna stop you.
Amy told you that she's a healer,
went on a one week retreat and won't stop telling me
that I need to smoke more weed.
The worst part is, that maybe she's right
but her mom pays her rent
and I don't have the time.
I'm meeting with old contingencies,
it's becoming clear they want
nothing to do with me.
(The future wants nothing to do with me)
Go if you want to.
You can go, no one will stop you.
Go if you want to.
You can go, no one's gonna stop you.

I think it's difficult to write songs about something other than romantic love, and still be able to communicate the intensity with which those feelings can hit a person. Some of the entries on this album are fantastic examples of this niche. dani_bloop
Bouncy, jangly power pop with a slash of acidic shadow, as the very best twee always has. From Boston, they met at band camp (not Bandcamp). Bandcamp New & Notable Jul 2, 2019
